(St. John’s – CUPE child care workers with Campus Child Care at Memorial University in St. John’s are the latest group to receive the provincial government’s ’template’  wage increases.

CUPE National Representative Wanda Power says the members of Local 4554-01 have voted to accept a new contract which includes:

• Wage increases of 8%, 4%, 4%, 4%

• New sick leave provisions

• Compassionate care Leave

• Language protecting members rights and benefits

Power says, “The agreement was negotiated under a form of Interest Based Negotiations or IBN.  The process began in October with joint training sessions for the employer and the union which was facilitated through the provincial government’s Labour Relations Agency. 

It was a very respectful round of negotiations,” says Power.
