(Halifax) Contract talks have broken off between the Children’s Aid Society of Halifax and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 2837.

CUPE National Representative Barb Kowalski says, The agencys frontline workers have been without a contract since November 30, 2002. The union is applying for conciliation, with the hope that the Department of Labour will help both sides reach a negotiated settlement, thus avoiding a disruption in service.”

Local 2837 represents approximately 50 employees, including social workers, office staff and family support workers.
