(Halifax) – Hospital contract talks for some 3,500 CUPE hospital workers across Nova Scotia have broken off.

CUPE represents hospital workers across the province, outside the Capital District, who work in Service, Clerical and Health Care.

CUPE’s Acute Care Co-ordinator, Wayne Thomas, says, “We have declared an impasse in bargaining and asked the Department of Labour to appoint a Conciliation Officer.”

Thomas says the impasse was declared for the Service group of workers in DHA 4 (Colchester), represented by CUPE Local 2525, and the Clerical group in DHA 8 (Cape Breton), represented by Local 2431.
