CUPE has sent a letter to Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister asking for an immediate intervention with Egyptian authorities for the quick release of the two Canadians unjustly arrested on August 16th.

Tarek Loubani, an emergency physician from London, Ontario, and John Greyson, a filmmaker and university professor from Toronto, were on their way to the Gaza strip where they were collaborating on a project with the al-Shifa hospital, when Egyptian authorities arrested them.

As their detainment in a Cairo prison continues we remain concerned about their health and safety. CUPE National President Paul Moist and CUPE National Secretary-Treasurer Charles Fleury have sent their letter directly to Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird.
