Sydney, NS CUPE Local 4428, representing 30 cafeteria employees at UCCB, have asked for a Conciliator to be appointed in talks with Compass.

CUPE National Representative Kathy Macleod says, The vast majority of these workers are making less than $10 an hour, so wages are a major issue in this round.

Macleod says their contract expired at the end of August of this year. CUPE is attempting to negotiate a second contract for this group.

Local 4428 represents cooks, bakers, cashiers, porters, dishwashers and lead hands working for Compass.
