CUPE and the Quebec Federation of Labour (QFL) gave their unqualified support to striking college and university students this week.

Tens of thousands of students across Quebec are protesting the Charest governments plan to cut $103 million from the student financial aid system.

Calling the plan the worst possible decision for youth, QFL president Henri Massé said it would bury students under a mountain of debt, especially those from low-income families.

The QFL stands in solidarity with the students and will support them vigorously in their negotiations with the government, Massé said. The QFL is Quebecs largest union central.
