BARRIE, ON - CUPE 3157 and the North Simcoe Hospital Alliance have a new collective agreement following ratification last week by the alliance board of directors.

The 45 office, clerical and technical staff, who work at Huronia District and Penetaguishene General Hospitals, held their ratification vote in September.

“This round of bargaining has enforced the good relationship that CUPE 3157 has with the North Simcoe Hospital Alliance.  We now have an excellent collective agreement in place for our members as health care in Ontario continues to be transformed under Dalton McGuinty’s Liberal government,” said local president Debby Mink.

“We know that in the next few years, as the local health integration networks unfold and accountability agreements are enforced, that job security will be key for our membership.  This new agreement offers greater job security and more options for our members as well as significant wage and benefit gains.  I am very pleased with this collective agreement.”

The terms of the agreement run until 2009. At that time, the parties may agree to enter into central hospital bargaining between CUPE and the Ontario Hospital Association.
