Windsor, N.S. – Contract talks between the Municipality of the District of West Hants and the union representing its outside workers are heading to conciliation.

Canadian Union of Public Employees National Representative John Evans says, “We’ve now been informed by the Department of Labour that a Conciliation Officer will sit down with both sides on July 14.

The members of Local 4522 have now had seven bargaining sessions and been unable to reach an agreement.

Evans says, “There is only one outstanding issue, which relates to how they are paid when they perform on-call duties on a statutory holiday. This could easily be resolved with some cooperation from the employer.”
