A long time ago, CUPE had Solinet, an on-line discussion forum that featured many lively conversations between activists about unions, life, the universe and everything. When CUPE shut down Solinet in the mid-90s, all those conversations disappeared with them.

Solinet’s most popular electronic conference was called The Lounge. And now, as cupe.ca’s first message board, The Lounge is back. The Lounge is on-line discussion forum for CUPE members to hold forth on all manner of subjects.

Message boards are web pages where visitors to cupe.ca can exchange text messages over a matter of hours, days or weeks. Each person who posts a message is identified by a unique user id which is password-protected.

Participants type their comments into a web form, press a button and are instantly part of the conversation.

The message boards are available now. To post messages, you have to create a user id first. We need to know who you are, but we will conceal your email address from prying eyes and email harvesting web robots.

Posting to the The Lounge is governed only by common decency and CUPE’s equality statement.

CUPE is offering these message boards to locals, committees and activists as a service. If you would like a forum for your committee, your local or just to discuss a topic, please contact the site administrator.
