CUPE activists to lead solidarity rally for City of Kawartha Lakes workers

KAWARTHA LAKES, Ont. Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario Division representatives and other union activists will lead a solidarity rally for municipal workers with the City of Kawartha Lakes at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 16th at Victoria Park in Lindsay. (due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Sid Ryan will not be able to attend, as announced earlier please note the new speakers list below)

The union leaders will join CUPE 855 members and their supporters to raise awareness of the workers outstanding bargaining issues. The workers are fighting for wage parity with neighbouring municipalities. Benefits are also unresolved. The 214 inside and 182 outside workers will be in a legal strike position on April 23rd, at 12:01 a.m. Mediation talks are scheduled for April 20th.
