The union representing over 900 office, technicians, animal care assistants and child care workers at the University of Victoria (UVic) has reached a tentative agreement. CUPE 951 reached the deal with UVic late last week after five months of bargaining.

“Thanks to the support of our members, we’ve been able to make some real improvements for campus workers. I want to thank our negotiations committee for their hard work and dedication through this round of bargaining,” says Kirk Mercer, president of CUPE 951. “CUPE 951 members are proud of what they do on campus. This tentative agreement will help ensure we can keep providing quality service UVic students and fellow staff depend on.”

When ratified, the collective agreement will renew for a 3-year term, April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2025. Details of the agreement will not be publicly released until presented to CUPE 951 members for a ratification vote.
