PortsToronto and 91 of its hourly and salaried employees have ratified a new six-year collective agreement.

A joint statement issued by PortsToronto and the Toronto Civic Employees Union (TCEU), Local 416 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE 416) stated, “This new agreement will provide workers with improvements to their wages and benefits, while providing PortsToronto with a stable and predictable labour relations environment over the agreement’s lifetime.”

The statement goes on to say, “We are very pleased to have concluded a constructive round of collective bargaining and look forward to a continuation of the quality service passengers and visitors expect and deserve.”

The parties reached the agreement last week, following months of bargaining. In addition to other improvements, the new agreement includes wage increases averaging two per cent in each year of the contract.

CUPE 416 represents airfield maintenance workers, fire fighters, ferry operators, electricians and specialized staff at PortsToronto.
