The collective agreement for the company’s 21 flight attendants operating out of Quebec and eastern Canada expired on July 19, 2025. Although six meetings have been held over the past three months, CUPE 5490 is filing for conciliation to bring the talks to a satisfactory conclusion.

“After several bargaining sessions, talks are advancing slowly,” explained Jessé Vigneault, president of CUPE 5490. “Important topics like wages have not yet been broached. To ensure efficient, constructive progress, the local has filed a formal request for conciliation with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.”

Several issues on the table, including off-base residency, assignments and crew planning, are priorities for members since these issues have a palpable, ongoing impact on their working conditions.

“We have trust in the process,” the president concluded. “We hope that our application will lay the groundwork for good collaboration with the employer, by placing the interests of employees at the heart of the negotiations.”
