CAMPBELL RIVER—Mayor Roger McDonell of Campbell River City Council and Kevin Robillard, President of CUPE 401, which represents all inside and outside workers with the City of Campbell River, are pleased to announce the ratification by both parties to an extension of their collective agreement through December 31, 2009.

Highlights of the settlement include:

  • Increases of 3 per cent in wages effective January 1st of 2007, 2008 and 2009;

  • Some selected adjustments to reflect recruitment/retention issues;

  • Improvements in contract language designed to make the agreement more user-friendly; and

  • Arising from the harmonious negotiations, a joint committee was struck to review certain language issues over the term of the Agreement.

The actual signing of the agreement by CUPE and city officials will occur shortly.
