WALKERTON, ON – Members of CUPE 255 have donated $11,000 to regional food banks covering the counties of Bruce, Grey, Huron and Wellington.

At this time of year particularly, it’s a pleasure to give to others who are not as fortunate as we,” said Sherry Anstett, recording secretary for CUPE Local 255.

The local is a composite local with units at Westario, Bruce Telecom, the Municipality of Wellington North, Bruce County Highways and the Municipality of Arran Esderslie, all of whom were involved in the donations.

Among food banks that received money are the Walkerton and District Food Bank, Paisley, North Huron Community Food Share, Minto Food Bank, Kincardine Food Bank, and district food banks in Hanover and North Huron, as well as the Salvation Army.

“We don’t just work in the region,” said treasurer Carrie Bramham. “We’re also members of the community and we care about our friends and neighbours.”
