Delegates to CUPE 1500’s convention have shown solidarity and generosity to the Association of Democratic Trade Unions’ 450 unionized workers who have been locked-out for the last eight months by Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean-Chibougamau auto dealers. The fundraiser raised $20,000 in support of the locked-out workers. Charles Fleury, national secretary-treasurer of CUPE, announced that CUPE National will contribute a quarter of that amount ($5,000). Fleury’s speech at the convention was to a familiar audience, having been a member of CUPE 1500.
