FREDERICTON — A tentative agreement has been reached between CUPE 1840, the Court stenographers and the provincial Government.
“After two days of intensive negotiations, we were able to reach a tentative agreement”, said Odette Robichaud, President of CUPE 1840.
“We are satisfied with the tentative agreement, said Robichaud. This agreement intervenes as the Court stenographers, which voted 97% in favour of a strike, were ready to take strike action.”
A ratification vote will be held on October 22. Until then the details of the agreement won’t be released. In 2000, the Court Stenographers were on strike for 19 weeks. CUPE Local 1840 represents 64 court stenographers.
