(Owen Sound) - Municipal workers at County of Grey have voted 85% in favour of strike action, after turning down an offer from the employer.

Both sides had last met in Conciliation on October 12. The 45 Roads employees, members of CUPE Local 1530, have set a strike deadline of November 9.

Outstanding issues in the dispute include wage parity with their counterparts in surrounding municipalities, as well a series of language items.

In bargaining to date, the main obstacle has been what can only be described as a lack of flexibility on the part of the County negotiating team.

Mediation with the Ministry of Labour will take place on November 8th one day before strike deadline.
