The Quebec governments attempts at defusing major opposition to a new pro-P3 agency dont fool anyone least of all CUPE Quebec members. CUPE is front and centre fighting plans for an agency that would impose P3s on many public services. The government is intent on forcing through Bill 61, despite hearings into the proposed law that were dominated by strong arguments against P3s.
Cosmetic changes to the bill dont change the agencys central mandate, and have been widely dismissed as nothing more than tinkering. The latest in a series of mobilizations against the P3 agenda was a mass distribution by CUPE members of 60,000 pamphlets exposing the truth about P3s.
