Halifax – Employees of Compass Canada at the Victoria General and Dixon Buildings of the QE 2 Hospital in Halifax will be in a legal strike position as of midnight June 15th.

A Conciliation Officer with the provincial Department of Labour has filed her report in accordance with the Trade Union Act, which means the members of CUPE Local 2761 could be on the picket lines by that time.

CUPE represents the custodial staff employed by Compass Canada at the two health care facilities.

CUPE National Rep. Larry Power says, “Our goal now is to try and avert a strike by these workers. In order to do that, we need an offer from the employer that’s fair and reasonable.”
