Workers employed in community-based organizations (CBOs) from across Saskatchewan will hold a noon-hour rally outside the Premiers Office in Saskatoon on Monday, October 21.

The workers will begin a march to the Premiers Office from the gazebo outside the Bessborough Hotel at 11:45 a.m.

Representatives from the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Service Employees International Union and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union will speak at the rally. Premier Calvert has also been invited to address the rally.

The three unions are calling on the provincial government to boost funding to improve the wages and working conditions of CBO workers.

Community-based workers provide professional care and support to children in daycares, adults with disabilities in group homes, to women and children in shelters, and to youth and other members of our communities.

The rally is being held in conjunction with a Were Worth More! bargaining conference sponsored by CUPE, SEIU and SGEU. Together, the three unions represent 1,500 community-based workers in over 60 different workplaces in Saskatchewan.
