Cochrane - The seven employees of the Cochrane Library Board have voted to join Local 1158 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

The vote was conducted by the Alberta Labour Relations Board on Thursday, May 31st.

The employees are looking forward to sitting down with management at the Library to discuss their concerns and resolve them through collective bargaining, said Susan Ruffo, National Representative of CUPE. The process of bargaining will begin once both parties have an opportunity to prepare bargaining proposals.

CUPE already represents library employees in Calgary, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Edson and Lloydminster.
