Claude Généreux told almost 1,000 delegates at the Ontario Division Convention in Niagara Falls, “CUPE is all about solidity and solidarity.”

Généreux said CUPE National is in very good financial circumstances. “We’ve come a long way, we’re in a new era of financial solidity. We’re in a new era of solid finances, solid activism and solid growth.”

Généreux said the 2008 national budget had three main priorities:

  • adding three equity positions (aboriginal issues, Maritime region and Atlantic region);
  • a special fund to fight privatization across the country;
  • 18 staff positions (three at national office, 15 in the regions)
