Prince Albert - City workers represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 882 in Prince Albert voted overwhelmingly to reject the City’s latest offer at a membership meeting on Tuesday, May 16, 2006.

CUPE Local 882 represents “inside” city workers, including employees in administration, aquatics, concessions and playgrounds. The members have been trying to conclude a new agreement for more than two years.

In February, the union negotiating committee thought they had a tentative agreement to recommend to its members. But in late February, the employer pulled the offer – a move that resulted in the union filing an unfair labour practice.

Bargaining is scheduled to resume on May 24, 2006.
