(Sydney) – Inside workers with the Cape Breton Regional Municipality have ratified a new, five-year contract with their employer.

CUPE National Representative John Evans says, “The new contract runs through 2012.  It contains wage increases of 2.5% in the first three years and 3% in the last two years.

They also gained the same language won by outside workers, cleaners and transit workers in Local 759 which stated that CBRM will make no changes to the current benefits package without the mutual agreement of both parties,” says Evans.

Local 933 represents 140 CBRM staff in the communications centre, jailers and clerical.
