CASTLEGAR, BC – CUPE 2262 library workers at Castlegar & District Public Library, in B.C., have ratified a new four-year agreement. The Board ratified the contract earlier this month.

“Although we had to resort to mediation to reach an agreement on wages and benefits, I’m pleased that our members were able to make some gains,” said CUPE 2262 President Cam McIntosh.

The contract includes wage increases of 1.5%, 2%, 2% and 2% respectively, with some improvements to language and benefits.

The CUPE 2262 sub-local represents seven members in the regional library. They provide frontline library services, order and catalog books, provide technical services, and run all kinds of community programs.

The new contract is in effect from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018.
