(Corner Brook) Employees of the Canada Games Centre in Corner Brook have ratified a first contract with the facility.

Canadas largest union, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, now represents nine full-time employees at the center, as well as the casual labour pool.

The contract was negotiated with Vestar Facility Management, the private company hired to operate the city-owned facility.

CUPE Local 4386 members include the Administrative Assistant, Facility Technicians and Power Engineers.

The CUPE contract runs from July 01, 2001 through to June 30, 2005 concurrent with the contract the city has with Vestar.

Highlights of the new agreement include a 100% employer-paid benefit plan, excluding LTD, and wage improvements.
