Employees of the Brampton Library, Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE ) Local 1776, have reached a tentative agreement with the employer.  This agreement is subject to ratification by the members of the Local and
the Brampton Public Library Board.

Members of the CUPE bargaining team, headed up by Bobby Nand from CUPE National, are pleased with the deal.  Better benefits for part-time staff were a major focus of the negotiations, and these have been addressed.

CUPE 1776 looks forward to continuing to foster harmonious labour relations with the Brampton Public Library over the duration of this contract,” said  Vee Papadimos, president of CUPE 1776.  “Equally important to our membership is maintaining excellent customer service for the people of Brampton.”

The ratification vote will be held September 5, 2008.
