Workers at Hydro-Qub0065c have put their money where their hearts are, offering their concrete support to striking Vido0074ron workers.

More than 15,000 members of CUPE 957, 1500 and 2000 have pledged $2 per member per week until a settlement is reached. This will generate $31,000 each week to help support 2,200 strikers who have been walking the picket line for more than six months.

“Everyone in Qub0065c understands that this strike will have a huge impact for the whole labour movement, setting the standard for other sectors,” says CUPE representative Charles Paradis. “That’s why we’re adding our support to that of thousands of other Qub0065c unionists who reject the dictates of [Vido0074ron owner] Pierre Karl Pl0061deau.”

“Negotiations have resumed,” says Gilles Dub,0020president of CUPE 1415, which represents the strikers in the Qub0065c City region. “But the needs of our members are always there. The help we’re getting from other unions is a big boost. And it sends a clear message to Quebecor that we can count on support to assure a just settlement.”

Donations to the Vido0074ron strikers can be sent through the Qub0065c regional office at 565 Crm0061zie Blvd. E., Suite 7100, Montra006c QC H2M 2V9. Make your cheque payable to SCFP Qub0065c, noting “Contingency Fund Vido0074ron” in the bottom right hand corner.
