The clock is ticking toward a possible strike by public library workers in Belleville this Friday, November 19.

The 28 members of CUPE Local 907 are set to walk off the job Friday morning, if mediated talks with the Ministry of Labour scheduled to begin today are not successful in resolving the dispute with the Belleville Public Library.

The major outstanding issue is the workers sick leave provisions. The employer is seeking major concessions in this longstanding clause in their contract.

The library workers voted 100% in favour of job action on October 1.

In 1987, this same CUPE local was locked out by their employer, after they held an information picket.
