Officials for ten unions representing 46,000 BC hospital workers said progress at the bargaining table spurred a decision to scale back todays job actions. The unions said there would be information pickets only no picket lines today.

Were pleased that we continue to make headway towards achieving a new collective agreement, said HEU leader Chris Allnutt, whos also chief bargaining spokesperson for the 10 unions involved in the talks. As a result, weve decided to change our plans so that patient and resident care isnt affected at all.

Beginning at 8am Pacific time and at other times after locals gain the right to strike, small numbers of workers will come off the job to leaflet the public and hospital workers. The unions will not be putting up picket lines.
