If you werent a victim of one the Fraser Health Authoritys $124 million of cutbacks, closures and contracting-out, youre entitled to a free day at Hastings Park, a BC theme park.

Health Authority officials say the day which could cost as much as $1.5 million is supposed to improve morale.

But HEU president Fred Muzin says its going to take a lot more than a party to improve hospital workers morale.

The Fraser Health authority has closed one hospital, cut hundreds of residential care beds and contracted out hundreds of laundry, kitchen and housekeeping jobs.

But not everyone wants to play.

“Our workers are horrified by this,” Muzin said.

“This health authority doesn’t hesitate to squander millions of dollars on logos, executive salaries and expenses while under funding front-line health care services.”
