Bargaining begins for 3,300 CUPE hospital workers

New Glasgow – Bargaining has begun on behalf of 3,300 people in 32 hospitals across the province.

CUPE Hospital Co-ordinator Wayne Thomas says, “This is a critical round of bargaining. Our members have narrowed down our priorities to a few key issues. We are determined to achieve our objectives in this round.”

The main issues include:

 

  • Wage increases
  • Pension Improvements
  • Protection against workload concerns
  • Improved health benefits
  • Benefits for retirees

 

CUPE represents healthcare, clerical and service workers in the 32 hospitals.
