As a result of September 11th and the closure of Canada’s 2nd largest airline, Canada 3000, as well as many layoffs from several airlines in Ontario, many have been presented with the opportunity to direct their energies into a new career.

A labour adjustment partnership has been formed between the Unions, Canadian Auto Workers, International Association of Machinists and Canadian Union of Public Employees and is funded by the Federal and Provincial governments to provide all displaced workers from the aviation industry with the assistance needed to develop plans for the future: re-employment, retirement, retraining, full-time school, self-employment, relocation and other possible outcomes.

An Open House will be held on Monday, April 22nd, 2002 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Action Centre, which is located at 215 Carlingview Drive, Unite 303, to inform the community and former aviation workers of the programs and services that will be available to them.

Media coverage will be arranged for this event including the local TV stations, and reporters from our local newspapers. It is expected they will arrive at 10:30 a.m. for a media conference. It is our hope that you plan to arrive prior to that time. This is also an opportunity to meet up with old friends and co-workers, as well as the leaders from each union and local politicians. Light refreshments will also be available until approximately 2 p.m.

On behalf of the Adjustment Committee, we look forward to seeing you on Monday April 22nd.

Sincerely,
