Vancouver After almost a year of on again negotiations, ambulance paramedics (CUPE local 873) have reached a tentative agreement with the province.

Strohmaier says that while details of the agreement are being withheld pending ratification, the new deal does include some improvements and clarifications over the last package.

Its been a tough round of negotiations but were extremely proud about what we were able to accomplish, says John Strohmaier, president of local 873. We were able to achieve most of our concerns addressed without withholding our services from the public.

With members spread out across the province, ratification is expected to take several weeks. Were getting ready to take this tentative agreement on the road, to make sure that all our members have had a chance to understand and recognize the gains we made at the table, adds Strohmaier.

Local 873 is made up of approximately 2,800 members.
