CUPE Local 3550 executive gave out a gift last week to every CUPE 3550 Communicator.  On each Communicator’s desk now sits a glass apple embossed with a CUPE Local 3550 ”swoosh”  graphic on one side and “Partners in Public Education” on the other.

The response has been very positive,” said 3550 President Trudy Grebenstein.  “CUPE Communicators are a vital part of our Local, and we wanted them to know that their union appreciates and recognizes  the work they do to distribute information to the membership.”

CUPE Communicators receive an envelope once a month that contains  all recent CUPE and other labour-related  communiqués that are of interest to the membership .  They then post them on the CUPE Bulletin Board at each worksite, and are the go-to person for members who have questions or comments about CUPE.

3550 has launched an internal campaign to promote member involvement in CUPE, reminding people that “My union i s  effective because I participate”.  These glass apples – the cost of which was shared with CUPE National – are a part of getting out that message.
