Montra006c, Monday, November 17, 2003 At a general meeting held this evening, social services workers and certain employment services and review and recovery (represented by the Syndicat des fonctionnaires municipaux de Montra006c - SFMM, CUPE-429) voted 94% in favour of the agreement concluded with the City of Montra006c.

This agreement enables the 1,200 casual and permanent employees to keep their employment with the City of Montra006c and all their working conditions and pension plan. They have also gained wage equity. By adopting the agreement, the white-collar workers are initiating implementation of three social assistance and public employment service agreements - for a term of five years - signed earlier last week by their employer (the City of Montra006c) and the ministr0065 de lEmploi, de la Solidarit 0073ociale et de la Famille.

We are very pleased with the results of this agreement. We have been working for three years on this file which is extremely important not only for our members but also for the citizens. Without the determination and patience of the white-collar workers, we would never have been able to break through and obtain tripartite negotiations with the City of Montra006c and Government of Qub0065c. Although we made certain concessions, we have reached our goals, said Daniel Papillon Demers, president of the SFMM.

The SFMM (CUPE-FTQ) represents some 8,000 municipal employees who work for the City of Montra006c as well as for para-municipal corporations such as La Socit du Parc des Iles (SPI), la Socit de dv0065loppement de Montra006c (SDM), la Socit d’habitation et de dv0065loppement de Montra006c (SHDM), the Montra006c Municipal Housing Bureau (MMHB), the Montra006c Six Flags Park, Cit 004eordelec Inc., Corporation Anjou 80 and Stationnement de Montra006c. In addition to the municipalities, CUPE is active in 10 other sectors of activity in Qub0065c including health and social services, education, universities, urban and air transportation, hydroelectricity, provincial corporations and public organizations and communications. With close to 100,000 members in Qub0065c, it is also the largest FTQ affiliate
