An Edmonton education P3 that combined a high school and a grocery store has been cancelled. The Edmonton Catholic school board has decided not to go ahead with the proposal, pointing to delays in zoning changes. CUPE education workers in Edmonton have opposed the P3 at every turn.

Critics of the plan speculated that the grocery story, Sobeys IGA, was supporting the school project to get around zoning rules and score a prime location for their business. The board has voted to ask the province for the remaining funding needed to build a new public high school without corporate sponsorship.
