The Canadian Home Care Human Resource Study has released a report which calls for increased funding to home care, and improvements in wages, benefits, and pensions for home care workers. The study, in which CUPE is a partner, contains the most detailed information ever collected on human resource issues in home care in Canada.

The study is available at their web site in Adobe Acrobat format.

The synthesis report summarizes findings which will be released later in a larger technical report. The synthesis report is also available in french.

The report has ten recommendations including:

  • re-examine the organization and funding of the sector.
  • promote the provision of appropriate compensation(wages and benefits, including pensions) for people providing home care.
  • improve working conditions for formal and informal caregivers.
