CUPE members believe in communities. We live, work, pay taxes and join in activities to strengthen our communities.

When something threatens our jobs, our families and our communities, we rise to defend ourselves and our neighbours.

That’s what CUPE BC’s Strong Communities campaign is all about.

Many British Columbians voted to bring in the B.C. Liberal government. We know that the Liberals said they would change the way things were done in B.C.

But we don’t think British Columbians were choosing to have our communities flattened by the Liberal policies. We dont think British Columbians were choosing to eliminate important public services and cut needed programs that support seniors, children, people with disabilities and others.

Polls show many citizens think Gordon Campbell and his MLAs are making changes too fast, too far, and hitting those who can afford it least.

You may have already read or heard about some of what the Liberals have done. Some policies are already in place, some are threatening.

The Strong Communities pages of the CUPE BC web site have more information on the campaign and what the Liberals are doing to B.C. communities. Check out these links for details.
