After years of difficult negotiations, the Syndicat des cols bleus de Laval (CUPE 4545) is announcing that it has finally reached a tentative agreement with the employer.
“The negotiations were not easy, but we did it!” said President Louis-Pierre Plourde. “We hadn’t had a wage increase for four years. The talks lasted for years, forcing us to resort to job actions. But that’s behind us now, and we’ll soon be presenting the outcome to our members.”
No further information will be released until the agreement is made available to members. A general meeting will be organized as soon as possible. Over the next few days, the parties will focus on finalizing the wording of the agreement.
On April 26, 2023, blue-collar workers voted 96% in favour of job actions, which could include as much as a strike.
