Last night, the 80 members of CUPE 3807 fully endorsed the tentative agreement reached with their employer on July 23. CUPE 3807 represents registration attendants at mobile blood drives and donation centres, call centre agents, volunteer liaisons, and administrative staff in the recruitment department at Héma-Québec’s Montréal facility. The collective agreement expired on April 1, 2023.

The tentative agreement represents significant gains for workers. It includes salary increases totalling 17.4% over five years, retroactive to April 1, 2023, as well as a complete reassessment of inconvenience and responsibility bonuses, including for evenings and weekends. Schedules will be more balanced and regular. Another major point is an acceleration of salary increments, which would be a significant advantage in skills recognition. Finally, the tentative agreement includes specific provisions, such as the recognition of remote work and measures to increase assignment flexibility and equity.

“Many of the things negotiated will foster much better work-life balance for our members,” said union consultant Chrystine Montplaisir. “This is a priority for us. Turnover among our members is currently quite high. Thanks to these gains, staff retention is expected to improve. Furthermore, the wage increases will enable staff members to maintain their purchasing power in an increasingly challenging economy.”
