CUPE members at local 4186-02 at the Northeastern Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) are fighting for their first collective agreement. Since 150 education workers joined CUPE last June, including Early Childhood Educators, Mental Health Workers, and Indigenous Support Workers, the Board has fought tooth and nail at the bargaining table. Now, their employer is threatening to file a ‘no-board report,’ a move that will disrupt vital student services. This move is a retaliatory response to workers exercising their right to unionize and seek fair wages, safe working conditions, and proper staffing.
