The president of North Battlefords municipal local is being punished for speaking out against water privatization. The day after CUPE 287 launched a campaign to raise awareness about the threat of a P3 sewage treatment plant, local president Barb Plews had her hours of work cut from 40 to 20 per week. CUPE has gone public defending Plews, filing an unfair labour practice complaint and mobilizing support for the 20-year city employee. Letters of support can be sent to Sister Plews c/o CUPE 287, Box 44, North Battleford, SK, S9A 2X6.
