Our National Executive Board met June 21-23, 2022 in Ottawa, with some members joining virtually. These are the highlights of their deliberations and decisions.

CUPE is launching a guide that will help locals break new ground by negotiating collective agreement provisions to protect and support Two-spirit, trans, non-binary and other gender diverse members.

Since my last report in March, CUPE members across the country have continued to rise to the challenges as we slowly recover from the global pandemic and the impact it has had on our communities, our workplaces, and our union.

The second quarter of 2022 was extremely busy and productive as Division Conventions took place across the country. Our activities intensified as cross-country travel increased and both in-person and virtual events brought CUPE activists together in each region.

For hundreds of years, many First Nation, Inuit and Métis communities have struggled with access to clean drinking water, as well as other necessities like quality food and safe housing. The current federal government has zeroed in on ending long-term boil water advisories in First Nation communities. But that’s just the start of what’s needed to end decades of water injustice and discrimination once and for all.
