CUPE members sound the alarm on significant payroll issues at Iler Lodge

Workers at the Extendicare-run Iler Lodge are sounding the alarm after months of issues with the new payroll system has left some dreading the holidays. The roughly 140 members of CUPE 1370 have filed three grievances and have been trying to work with management to resolve issues caused by a new payroll system that the long-term care facility rolled out earlier this year.

This report comes just a few weeks after our national convention, and I want to begin by expressing my heartfelt thanks to all CUPE delegates and members across the country for their continued support. It is an incredible honour and privilege to represent CUPE’s 800,000 members. As I begin my third mandate as your National Secretary-Treasurer, I do so with renewed energy and determination to continue supporting the members of this great union, because we are worth everything we are fighting for, and so much more.

Long-term care workers from MacGillivray Guest Home in Sydney, Nova Scotia represented by CUPE 1562, have voted 98% in favour of a strike mandate.

CUPE workers take limited strike action at Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal
