Outside workers with the City of Laval (CUPE 4545) began a strike to last three consecutive days starting at 2pm today. Talks have broken down, primarily on the issue of wages. Workers have not had an increase to their wages in four years now, and this marks the second work stoppage since last spring.

“Times are tough. The inflation levels have hurt us. We want a satisfactory agreement and hope that this time, the City will make the effort required to reach an agreement,” said CUPE 4545 President Louis-Pierre Plourde.

Essential services will be maintained during the conflict. CUPE 4545 represents 850 outside workers with the City of Laval.
