The Airline Division of CUPE is denouncing the Legault government’s termination of assistance program for regional air services in Quebec, which is leading to layoffs and base closures at Pascan Aviation.
“This decision will leave communities more disconnected and disadvantaged,” said Wesley Lesosky, President of CUPE’s Airline Division.
Lesosky called on Premier Legault to reverse course and take immediate action to protect these critical routes and defend good jobs for workers in Quebec. “This decision is extremely short-sighted, and Mr. Legault would be wise to revisit it.”
CUPE’s Airline Division represents 18,500 flight attendants at nine different airlines across Canada, including Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat, Sunwing, Calm Air, Canadian North, Flair, Pivot, and Pascan. “CUPE’s 18,500 flight attendant members across the country stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers at Pascan.”
