college buildingsThe union representing operations staff at the College of New Caledonia, CNC, is standing in solidarity with the Faculty Association of CNC, FACNC, whose members went on strike this morning. CUPE 4951 is offering its full support to the FACNC as they fight against concession demands.

“CUPE members are proud to work alongside faculty in providing the highest quality of services on CNC campuses. We will stand with them to protect the rights we’ve all worked so hard for so long to have in our respective collective agreements,” says Leanne Yearley, president of CUPE 4951. “Our members will support their picket lines, and we will do all we can to help them get the fair collective agreement they deserve.”

CUPE 4951 represents 350 operations staff members at CNC campuses in Prince George, Mackenzie, Quesnel, Fort St. James, Vanderhoof, and Burns Lake. CUPE 4951 members at CNC work as tradespeople, security guards, food services employees, library technicians, facility service employees, custodians, academic advisors, admissions officers, and more.
