Stephen Drost represented New Brunswick on the National Executive Board as Regional Vice-President from 2013 to 2014. He was appointed Regional Vice-President representing New Brunswick on the National Executive Board in May 2021.
Stephen was a full-time frontline clinical social worker employed with the Province of New Brunswick for over 33 years until taking a leave of absence in April 2021. He has held many leadership roles within CUPE. From 2013 until recently, Stephen was the President elect for CUPE Local 1418, a provincial local representing over 1,100 professionals. Stephen sat as a Regional Vice-President representing CUPE 1418 on the CUPE NB Division Executive since 2013 and was the CUPE NB First Vice-President from 2013-2014, and again from 2019 until being elected CUPE NB President on April 24, 2021.
He has been an active member of CUPE 1418 for over 30 years, including committee work, shop steward, sublocal officer, provincial executive officer as area vice-president, vice-president, and president. He also served on CUPE’s National Persons with Disabilities Working Group and as a CUPE member facilitator.
